Description: Released in 1982 as Neil Youngs first album for Geffen, Trans shocked fans with its heavy use of vocoders and synthesizers. Tracked in sessions split between Hawaii and Modern Recorders in Redwood City, CA, the record reflected Youngs fascination with electronic music and was partly inspired by his attempts to communicate with his son, who had cerebral palsy and struggled with speech. The albums divided reception eventually led to Youngs infamous lawsuit with Geffen over uncommercial records, making this LP one of the most pivotal and controversial in his catalog.
