Experience the sonic evolution of a pioneer. Released in 1998 via Disques Dreyfus, Odyssey Through O is a sophisticated remix compilation that reimagines Jean-Michel Jarres legendary synth-based foundations for a new era. Focusing largely on material from the landmark Oxygne and quinoxe era, this collection seamlessly blends Jarres signature melodic sequencing with contemporary textures.

Moving beyond the “shiny” synth classics of the 1980s, this album introduces a serene, lounge-friendly atmosphere. Listeners can expect a tasteful fusion of:

• Acoustic Textures: A delicate mix of live instrumentation and organic samples.
• Ambient Electronics: Serene soundscapes that create a sense of calm and composure.
• Modern Grooves: Subtle trip-hop rhythms and club-oriented beats that give the tracks a contemporary, “frantic” energy.

This “Enhanced CD” is partially mixed, providing a continuous, flowing listening experience while ensuring each track retains its own distinct identity. Highlighting a “return to form” for Jarre, the release also features a “danced-up” reworking of the Rendez-Vous lead singlea collaboration with Apollo 440. Whether you are seeking a “remedy for chaos” or a deep dive into electronic history, Odyssey Through O is an essential, “highly enjoyable” addition to any collection.
