Matt Thibideau aka Altitude releases his latest original EP on Lisbon’s Helena records, cementing his return to the international scene. Anyone who has seen his all-analog live set will be on solid ground here among four extended deep-space soundscapes, which continue the legacy of his legendary Blue Recordings output. ‘Transforming’ is the slow, cavernous floorfiller with a growling bass of truly physical intensity, while ‘Fractional’s delayed chords and soft, skipping hi hats form the housiest moment of the record. ‘Touch Sensor’ and ‘Tantalum’ on the flip nod to the legacy of Mark & Moritz (still strong to this day): the former could be a long-lost Main Street dub, while the latter would not be out of place as a new entry in the M-series.
